Cheap car insurance: tips & tricks
![]()
In order to ensure that we are able to give you our best available rate here are some tips on how to reduce your premium and get you the cheapest car insurance possible:
- The less drivers there are on the policy the cheaper the premium, therefore try and put named drivers on the policy rather than opting for an 'any driver' policy.
- Try and avoid adding young drivers to the policy.
- If you do not commute to and from work then ask for a policy that does not include this cover.
- If possible keep your vehicle in a locked garage or off the road at night.
- Having a Thatcham approved immobiliser or tracker can reduce your premium by up to 7.5%.
- Increasing your excess can reduce your premium.
- Provide accurate annual mileage details as often discounts can be provided for restricted use.
- Advise our agent of any driving certificates or qualifications you may hold as it is possible that these may result in a discount.
- Wherever possible try and avoid making claims. For example, if the cost of the repair is less than £300.00 and your excess is £150.00 be aware that your premium will rise at renewal, due to the claim and possible loss of no claims bonus, which may make claiming not financially viable for you in the long run.
